Wells - The smallest city in Englan

THE WANDERER HARE’S DIARY:
Day 7:
➡️ Wells, the smallest city in England

THE CATHEDRAL OF ST. ANDREW
is the First and finest gothic cathedral in England. If you have red The pillars of earth you will immediately understand the magic of this place. It’s really hard to describe my emotions. I had the luck to join the service in the morning and listen to the beautiful choir. It was touching... I recorded a song, you can listen to it at the end of this post. It gave me goosebumps. It’s been a funny thing because none of the tourists asked to join it. I did it and the priest opened the chain, took gently my hand and accompanied me in the hidden ‘room’ where the choir was singing. I had my superstar moment because the other tourists didn’t understand 😅😅😅 and didn’t know what to do 😂
I mean folk: learn to ask if you want something! Don’t be shy!!!
Anyway, seriously, the majesty of this amazing forest of stone pillars is touching.....
The cathedral has been built since the XII century and it went till the XIV century.
It’s something you should see if in England....

The swans at Bishop's Palace ring the bells for food

Wells Cathedral

SUGGESTIONS:
I visited Wells in a rainy Sunday, almost no tourists at all! But if you are planning to visit Wells in summer I suggest you to park outside the town. There is a very useful car park in centre but it will be full during summer days. Do not be tempted to do as I did... I had luck!

** Do not eat at the Cathedral cafe... it's terrible!!! Just outside the Cathedral in the main square you'll find a lot of pubs and bakeries... cheeper and better for sure than the one at the Cathedral.

*** If the cord that the swans use to call the guardian is tied up do not worry and ask at the entrance if they can call the swans: they will be happy and the swans too!
